Myeongdong Lifting | How to Restore Collagen Without Fillers: VOLNEWMER Lifting

Hello,
I’m Dr. Youjoo Hwang from Lijin Clinic.

During consultations,
there are a few things
I hear more and more often these days:
“I want my skin to improve naturally.”
“I don’t want it to look obvious.”
“If possible, I’d prefer a treatment that helps my skin restore itself.”

In other words,
many patients today are focusing on:
✔ Whether the skin can improve through its own regenerative process
✔ Whether the results look natural rather than overdone
✔ Whether the improvement can age well over time

Because of this shift,
many people are no longer looking
only for aggressive lifting or dramatic changes.

Instead, there is growing interest in treatments
that gradually improve the skin itself over time.

One of the treatments
that naturally comes up more frequently in consultations today is
VOLNEWMER lifting.

"What Kind of Lifting Treatment Is VOLNEWMER?"

VOLNEWMER uses radiofrequency (RF) energy
to deliver controlled heat into the deeper layers of the skin.

Rather than aggressively pulling or tightening the surface,
the treatment is designed
to stimulate collagen activity from within.

Existing collagen fibers contract immediately with heat stimulation,
while new collagen production is gradually encouraged over time.

Because of this mechanism,
the results often feel subtle and natural rather than dramatic.

Patients commonly describe it as:
“My face looks more refined somehow.”
“My skin feels firmer than before.”
rather than feeling like their appearance changed suddenly overnight.

"When Do You Start Seeing Results From VOLNEWMER?"

This is one of the questions I hear most often during consultations.

VOLNEWMER is best understood in two stages
rather than as a treatment that creates an instant dramatic change.

Immediately after the procedure,
some patients notice mild tightening or a more defined facial contour.

Then, over the following 1–2 months,
new collagen formation gradually develops,
leading to improvements in skin elasticity and texture.

At first, patients often feel:
“Something looks a little different.”

Then later:
“My skin definitely looks better.”

This gradual improvement pattern has also been reported in clinical studies.

[Comparison before one VOLNEWMER treatment (left) and 12 weeks after treatment (right)]
The mid-face area appears naturally restored with improved facial dimension,
while the jawline becomes more refined and defined.

Lee S, Hyun J, Shin Y, Goo BL. Efficacy and safety of a novel monopolar radiofrequency device with a continuous water-cooling system in patients with age-related facial volume loss. Journal of Dermatological Treatment. 2024;35(1):2333028.

In this study,
patients who received a single VOLNEWMER treatment
showed improvement in mid-face volume and jawline lifting
approximately 12 weeks after treatment.

Improvements were also observed
in facial hollowing, jawline sagging, and wrinkles.

These changes are believed to be associated
with increased collagen and elastin production
stimulated by radiofrequency energy.

In other words,
VOLNEWMER is not simply about physically pulling the skin tighter.
It is better understood as a treatment
that gradually improves the skin structure itself
for more natural-looking rejuvenation.

“Should I Get Fillers or VOLNEWMER?”

This is another concern many patients bring up during consultations.
“My cheeks seem more hollow than before,
but fillers feel a little intimidating.”

In situations like this,
the most important step is determining
whether the issue is truly volume loss,
or whether facial support and elasticity have weakened over time.

In many cases,
the problem is not simply that volume disappeared.
Rather, the tissue may have shifted downward
due to reduced structural support.

VOLNEWMER does not add artificial volume.
Instead,
it focuses on improving the skin’s support structure itself.

Because of this,
it can be especially helpful in cases
where facial tissues have descended
rather than simply lost volume.

Of course, if both structural support and volume replacement are needed,
fillers or additional treatments may still be appropriate.

Ultimately, the goal is not deciding which treatment is “better,”
but understanding which type of change your face needs first.

[Pain Level and Recovery Time]

When considering lifting procedures,
this is often one of the most realistic concerns patients have.

VOLNEWMER incorporates
both a cooling system and vibration technology,
which helps make the treatment more comfortable
compared to many other RF lifting procedures.

Treatment time is usually around 30–40 minutes,
and topical numbing cream is commonly used.

After treatment,
temporary redness, warmth, or mild swelling may occur,
but these reactions are generally short-lived
and most patients can return to daily activities
without significant downtime.

----------------

Who May Benefit From VOLNEWMER?
✔ Patients who feel overall facial sagging has developed over time
✔ Patients whose jawline appears less defined than before
✔ Patients seeking natural improvement without fillers
✔ Patients who prefer subtle, less obvious changes
✔ Patients concerned about downtime and recovery

----------------

In lifting treatments,
the device itself is important — but technique matters even more.

Even with the same device,
results can vary depending on:
✔ where the energy is delivered
✔ how deeply it is applied
✔ how the treatment is customized

Especially with RF lifting treatments
like VOLNEWMER,
the depth and distribution of energy
can significantly affect the overall outcome.

For this reason,
rather than recommending one specific treatment to everyone,
I prefer to first explain
what kind of natural improvement is realistically achievable
based on each individual’s current condition.

If you are considering lifting treatments,
I recommend starting not with choosing a device,
but with accurately evaluating your current facial structure and skin condition first.

Thank you for reading.
